Sitemap is one of the major requirement for web and SEO developers. Based on this sitemap, the search engines index their webpages in search results and it leads to good organic traffic to your website.
Now in this post, we will how to generate a new sitemap for your website using Yoast plugin. Yoast is one of the popular plugin in wordpress for SEO.
Sitemap in WordPress using Yoast
STEP 1: Open your wordpress admin panel, goto plugins and select add new plugin.
STEP 2: Search for Yoast Plugin from Plugin directory of wordpress and click on install button. After that click on Activate button.
STEP 3: Select SEO from left side wordpress options. Select General option and open the Features Tab as shown in the below image.
STEP 3: select the Sitemap URL from the Features Window.
STEP 4: Select small Question mark symbol after the title “XML sitemaps”, you will see a few links. Select See the XML sitemap link. and following message appears.
The XML sitemap appears as ” websitename.com/sitemap_index.xml”
It will have all your site content like posts, categories and pages. You can go ahead to submit your sitemap to search engines.
